The Traditional Wooden Toys and Games of Denmark


It is not an ordinary toy that can be seen in the market and to take note it is made in wood. These wooden toys are traditionally come from Danish Baltic Island of Bornhom where the founder of the FILTRA Group of Companies is born. This is pursued by the International Designs Woodworking Inc. (IDEWOOD) one of the divisions of FILTRA. All of the production is made here in the Philippines they want to establish a good relation between East and West by enhancing the both capability of the people they want to work with. They want to avoid misunderstanding with the both group and to wish to relate with cultures and norms. The name Burgundar have been in different phases before it was now.  It started in Burgundarholm from the place Bornholm in 13th century, in the 3rd century when war happened they were called the Burgandains. Then they stop in the Philippines to start a new life and seek help for the Filipinos who have the talent in craftsman and the idea is based on Danish culture. Then the first Burgundar game was invented, the Viking Kubb game that originated in Beltic Sea.

Did you know that the names of these Danish games come from the Gods and Goddesses of Vikings? Because they believe that they are looked after by bigger people and those are the Gods. The wooden games, has two kinds the Indoor and outdoor game. The indoor games have four (4) different kinds of toys:  Loke’s Tricky Sticks, Odin’s Tower, Rocking Sleipnir and the Viking Balut. The outdoor have five (5) different toys: Viking Kubb, Freya’s Rings, Giant Viking Tower, Tyr’s Spears and the Limbo. They have different theories but the picture or the output of the different God’s description.

A creative game and long lasting toy that every age can play with. This is where the real fun is playing with the great toy and having fun with your family.
